On Friday, 4th October 2024, devotees gathered at the MA Centre in Singapore at 7 pm to worship the Divine Mother on the second day of Navarātri.
Following the chanting of Amma’s Aṣṭōttaram and the Durgā Aṣṭōttaram, Br. Mādhavāmṛta delivered a thought-provoking talk. In his talk Br. Mādhavāmṛtajī explained how Navarātri celebrates the slaying of Mahiṣāsura and, by implication, every attempt to outwit God. The buffalo-demon was just one of many asuras—including Bhasmāsura and Hinraṇyakaśipu—who tried to defeat God. But the Divine always trumps the demonic, whether in brain or brawn power.
Amma’s Teaching:
Human ingenuity is no match for divine brilliance. We must bow down before God. Through sādhanā (spiritual practices), we must gradually try to rise above the triguṇas (satwa, rajas and tamas) so that we can defeat the inner enemies that hinder our spiritual progress.
The evening concluded with soul-stirring bhajans, filling the hall with divine energy and leaving a lasting impact on all present. The sponsors performed the āratī, following which prasād was served.
The program was generously sponsored by Sharanya and Jeyalakshmi Namassivayam, Jalaja Dass, and Sandran Raju.
We invite you to join us for the third day (October 5th, 2024) of the Durgā Pūjā at 5 p.m. at MA Centre Singapore.
