Ōm namaḥ śivāya. The Hindu festival of light–known as Dīpāvalī or Diwālī–is just around the corner. The spiritual significance of this holy day is evergreen: light symbolises the triumph of wisdom and goodness over the darkness of ignorance and evil.
To commemorate the occasion, Amriteswari Society Singapore will conduct a Mahāgaṇapati Hōma on the morning of Thursday, October 31, 2024. This fire ritual is said to help one overcome the obstacles that stand in the way of attaining success in any noble endeavour.
Many Hindus associate Dīpāvalī with Lakṣmī, the Goddess of Wealth and Prosperity. Apropos of this, Amriteswari Society will also be conducting a participatory Mahālakṣmī Pūja the same morning. To register for the Hōma and puja, please click below:
After the chanting of sacred verses in praise of Amma and Lakṣmī, a spiritual discourse and bhajans, devotees will be served a sumptuous South Indian breakfast with savoury and sweet delights.
Thereafter, as a mark of our consideration for the less privileged, we will carry out the Mother’s Kitchen activities for October. We urge all of you to volunteer in this sēvā. With enough hands and by Amma’s grace, we can serve our beneficiaries a wholesome Dīpāvalī lunch by 1 p.m.
We look forward to seeing you and spending a meaningful Dīpāvalī with you.
Ōm amṛtēśwaryai namaḥ.
