The Amriteswari Society encourages us to make a difference in the lives of others through acts of selfless service and to guide humanity to carry out charitable activities. This extends to caring for Mother Nature which needs to be preserved for our children and future generations to come.
Embracing the World (founded by AMMA) is a growing international network inspiring thousands to follow the path of selfless service and includes (as one of its many objectives), the protection and preservation of nature. It is from this that we draw our inspiration, through AMMA’s international environmental initiative; GreenFriends. GreenFriends is an international environmental initiative and volunteer-based movement that promotes environmental awareness and participation at both individual and community levels. The initiative seeks to inspire people to serve and protect nature, so that all life-forms may live in harmony.
Amma has said, “even if we haven’t done any selfless acts, we should plant a tree or sapling; that would be a truly selfless deed, benefiting ourselves and others.” While most of us (as city dwellers) live in high-rise apartments with limited sunlight, gardening is not impossible. One way to garden is by growing microgreens free from fertilizer and pesticides in the comfort of your own home. The Ayudh Booth at the programme venue will be sharing with attendees how to grow microgreens as well as their multiple uses and health benefits.
Incidentally, the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources (MEWR) has designated 2019 as the Year Towards Zero Waste. Amriteswari Society Singapore will also be taking active steps to do its part for a Zero Waste Nation. In light of this, this year’s programme will be promoting the reduction and recycling of all forms of waste as a key objective.
Attendees are encouraged to:
These measures will contribute towards the reduction of food waste and the use of plastic during the event.
With the spirit of love and compassion, let us do our part to conserve our environment and to protect and preserve Mother Nature by fostering awareness and rebuilding and revitalising our green communities.
