Navaratri Puja 2024 – Day 3

On Saturday, 5th October 2024, devotees gathered at the MA Centre in Singapore at 5 p.m. to celebrate the 3rd day of Navarātri and Durgā Pūjā.

Synopsis of Mādhavāmritaji’s talk:

Behind Durgā’s slaying of Mahiṣāsura lay a saga of one man’s determination to avenge a perceived wrong, a bitter resolve that led to generations of people paying a heavy price. Rambha, Mahiṣāsura’s father, wanted to take revenge for the killing of his brother. His vengefulness, tāmasic by nature, triggered a sequence of events that culminated in the killing of Mahiṣāsura and his brother Raktabīja.

Amma’s Teaching:
Amma says that suffering is caused by ignorance, which is, turn caused by Māyā. Although Māyā is the cause of creation and delusion, it can also bring about spiritual liberation. Amma says that Māyā isn’t what doesn’t exist, rather what keeps changing, and exhorts us to look for the unchanging constant behind the world of flux. If we can turn to God in suffering, even suffering helps us draw closer to God.

The program was generously sponsored by Usha Suresh & Thana, and Atira Manikandan & Ashwin Manikandan

The program concluded with an array of beautiful bhajans, ending with the Mahiṣāsura Mardini Stōtram.
